The cast of characters in Season 3 of the CW's Arrow continues to grow, as the series has cast Spartacus and Star Trek Into Darkness actor Nick Tarabay for a multi-episode arc as Digger Harkness, also known as Captain Boomerang.
EW.com first exclusively reported the news. In the comics, Captain Boomerang is actually a recurring villain for the Flash who uses, as his name would suggest, "specialized boomerangs that he wields with incredible skill." He has also been tied to the Suicide Squad in the comics.
Arrow will portray Captain Boomerang as "a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers." EW reports the character will first appear in Episode 7 of Season 3 and will then continue into Episode 8, which just so happens to be when The Flash (Grant Gustin) speeds into Starling City as part of a crossover with his spin-off series.
It seems certain, then, that Captain Boomerang is the villain whom executive producer Greg Berlanti referenced when he spoke to FlashTVNews about the first crossover between the two shows. "We use a famous Flash villain, actually, in the Arrow episode, and then I would say as much as there is a villain in the Flash one - the first one ("Flash vs. Arrow") - we're not deceiving anybody with the title. There will be some real fisticuffs between our heroes."
