Melissa Rivers is taking the death of her mother Joan Rivers to court. The daughter of the famous 81-year-old comedienne and host of E! popular series Fashion Police is filing a lawsuit against the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic, the doctor who operated on Joan, and an ear, nose and throat doctor who was also on the case.

According to RadarOnline, staff members at the Upper East Side Manhattan clinic told medical investigators of something that happened during the producer that wasn't related to the medical surgery.

"It become very clear to Melissa and experts she has spoken to that her mother didn't have to die," an insider revealed. "This was a routine endoscopy that went wrong. Melissa has also been told that staff members at Yorkville Endoscopy revealed a shocking detail to medical investigators looking into Joan's death- something occurred during the procedure that wasn't medically related."

As far as what could have went wrong during the procedure, Radar is alluding to the fact that it had something to do with Joan's personal ENT doctor.

"It was something related to Joan's personal ear, nose and throat doctor and it wasn't about the unplanned biopsy she did," Radar explains. "Melissa will await the outcome of the official medical investigation and the absolutely file the lawsuit.'

Melissa is clearly distraught over the loss of her mother, but she isn't looking for any monetary gain through the lawsuit, but rather some justice.

"She won't be doing it for the money," the insider said. "She wants to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else."

The incident is still being investigated by the New York State Health Department.
