In the most bizarre news you'll probably read all day, it has just been confirmed that Joan Rivers' doctor Gwen Korovin take a selfie in the operating room, while Rivers was under anesthesia. According to new reports the photo was snapped just a few minutes before the 81-year-old Fashion Police host and comedienne stopped breathing during the surgery.

RadarOnline is reporting that Dr. Korovin, who was Rivers' personal ear, nose and throat doctor, captured the moment right before surgery by taking a picture of herself with Rivers unconscious body on her personal cell phone.

It's still unclear whether or not the doctor meant for Joan to be in the image, but according to the news site, the late comedienne does appear in the photo.

"She was under anesthesia at this point," the site says of Rivers. "Everyone in the operating room was just stunned as they had never witnessed anyone do that before."

After the photo was taken, Korovin performed an unauthorized biopsy on the starlet, which ultimately lead to her death.

"Joan never consented to the procedure," a source revealed to Radar. "And Dr. Korovin never should have been in the operating room to begin with- certainly not to perform any procedure on Joan, since she didn't have privileged to do so at the clinic."

While Gwen Korovin might have wanted to keep the selfie for her own sick personal enjoyment, she is now under questioning from medical investigators who are trying to find out what the purpose of taking the picture was in the first place.

"[They] are eager to talk to Dr. Korovin about the events leading up to and after Joan's death," a source explained. "They will certainly be asking what the purpose of taking the selfie was for, and they will want to see it."
