For fans of NBC's drama series Chicago Fire that love watching buff men save kittens and babies from burning Chicago buildings, think again this season as the premiere airing Sept. 22 on NBC will be a tearjerker.
As viewers were left with a provoking cliffhanger in the season 2 finale, it's likely that the season 3 premiere will be amped with just as much adrenaline. However, this season will not be without tissues and having a therapist on speed dial.
Last season left off in the focus of Casey's marriage proposal to Dawson as the firehouse received a mysterious call regarding a building fire. As the entire fire station except for Chief Boden rushed into the building, the building exploded and left viewers with their jaws on the floor.
One thing we do know will be happening in this season is one character exit, as there will be one major character death.
"Someone had to die, someone does," admits executive producer of Chicago Fire Matt Olmstead. "Not everybody makes it out of that building and then certainly what people deal with in terms of the loss of whomever that character is, that's definitely what we're dealing with in the first episode and beyond."
Will it be Casey, Dawson, Shay? Hopefully not Lady Gaga's beau Taylor Kinney who plays Kelly Severide!
One thing is for certain; viewers will cry. "In the episode, they're going to use a dramatic device that we've never used before on Fire to show the repercussions and why what happened," explains Yuri Sardarov, who plays Otis. "I just got the script. I've read it three times now and I've cried every single time."
All in all it will be an emotional opener. "The cliffhanger is going to force a few things into perspective," explained Sardarov. "And everything is going to be revealed in the first episode. I just read it, and I as tearing up. It's beautiful. It's incredible."
