After months of teasing, the premiere of the Batman prequel Gotham finally arrived on Fox. As the DC Comics TV series hit the airwaves, the entire cast, including Ben McKenzie (Jim Gordon), Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Robin Lord Taylor (The Penguin), Cory Michael Smith (The Riddler) and Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith) joined in on Twitter to live tweet at #GothamPremiere.
In our recent recap, the story begins with Bruce Wayne helplessly watching as a mugger murdered his parents. Detective James Gordon (McKenzie) promises to make things right and find the masked man who killed them. Unfortunately, Gordon's partner Bullock (Logue) realizes this simple robbery gone wrong is too much to handle.
According to Comic Book Resources, Gotham made its debut with an impressive 8 million viewers. As the show made its twists and turns, the audiences were tweeting back and forth with the cast.
Taylor shared a picture of himself with his cat as they watched the first episode:
"We're all like: !!!!! #gothampremiere"
Cory Michael Smith took the time to answer each fan's question: "'@JarrodT83: Can we please get more @mister_CMS? #GothamPremiere' Stay with us... I will start showing up a lot more ;)"
Though the Riddler and Penguin did not share screen time together, on Twitter the Batman baddies tweeted, "You could dice onions on those cheekbones. @mister_CMS is a genius on and off screen. #Nygma #GothamPremiere"
McKenzie tweeted with his Matrix Reloaded co-star, "'@jadapsmith: Congrats @ben_mckenzie you may have a hit on your hands. #GothamPremiere' I think we do Jada, I think we do :)"
Though they are complete opposites on the TV shows, Logue could only say one thing: "@ben_mckenzie congrats, partner"
Toward the end, Pinkett-Smith had this to say to viewers: "I'm happy that you guys enjoyed @Gotham. It's an honor to be on your TV screens. Thanks for live tweeting with me. Tweet ya next time!"
To celebrate the season premiere, the cast of Gotham joined Twiitter to watch along with their audience.
