Landing the leading role in a comic book film or TV adaptation is definitely a huge want for any actor working in the business today, so why not just throw your hat into the casting pool yourself? That's exactly what The Wire and Boardwalk Empire star Michael K. Williams did this week in regards to Marvel's rumored Black Panther movie! While he was the one to suggest it, we're sure fans of the actor and the character would love for this dream casting to come true!
While the Black Panther movie has only been "in talks" at Marvel Studios and not confirmed, we're glad Williams is at least starting the casting rumors himself by expressing his interest in the part.
"No not yet," the actor told Cinema Blend when asked if been approached to portray a comic book character in any adaptations. "And I'm saying 'yet' with a lot of emphasis. But hopefully I'm looking forward to being apart of the franchise."
"Black Panther. Yeah, definitely," he clarified when asked which character he'd want to play. "It would depend on the script. I would definitely bring that quintessential New York City edge. You know, just a little bit of that grit."
We're so happy to see yet another star showing interest in a great role that could easily come to fruition. Williams has the talent and the following to make a Black Panther project a success.
