In a statement made on Monday, Take That's front man and X-Factor (UK) judge Gary Barlow announced the heartbreaking news that he and wife of 12 years Dawn Andrews delivered a stillborn child on August 4.
The child would have been the couple's fourth daughter and was named Poppy Barlow.
In an official statement released by Barlow's spokesperson on Monday, "Dawn and I are devastated to announce that we've lost our baby. Poppy Barlow was delivered stillborn on August 4th in London. Our focus now is giving her a beautiful funeral and loving our three children with all our hearts. We'd ask at this painful time that our privacy be respected."
Barlow, 41, and Andrews currently have three children, Daniel (12), Emily (10), and Daisy (3).
Take That is a hit British pop band with six released studio albums, the most recent being 2010's "Progress." Barlow has written 11 no. 1 singles for the band and three no. 1 singles as a solo artist. Take That has sold over 45 million records to date.
Barlow's sad news follows band mate Mark Owens' announcement of the birth of his baby girl and third child, Fox India Owen, in late July. It was revealed in 2010 that Owen had had a five year affair from 2004 until 2009, but the singer and his wife Emma have since reconciled their differences.
Fellow band mate Robbie Williams is also expecting a child with his wife Ayda, which he announced in a statement in May.
Barlow announced Andrews' pregnancy via Twitter in April, posting:
@GBarlowOfficial: "My wife and I are expecting our 4th child #Anotherowngoal."
Celebrity friends have now taken to Twitter to tweet their condolences, with the English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber posting:
@OfficialALW: "Dearest Dawn & Gary, Madeleine & I are devastated about news of Poppy. Our thoughts & prayers are with you and your family."
And X-Factor boy band JLS writing:
@JLSOfficial: "We send our condolences to @GBarlowOfficial and his family during this tough time..our thoughts and prayers with you..Marv and the boys x."
