Talk about shedding the pounds quickly. NCIS star Michael Weatherly has lost 35 lbs. in just four months. The 46-year-old actor who stars on the popular CBS series showed off his new trimmed torso at the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on September 14, where he credits the training for the event forced him to get into serious shape.

The actor spoke to Closer Weekly where he revealed his training routine and the fact that he trained with other people really forced him to stick to his workout plans.

"My friend and I have been swimming in the Pacific every weekend [since early May], and I lost 35 pounds!" the star explained. "I learned that if you say you're meeting someone on a Sunday, you have to show up," he explained of his family, and friends keeping him motivated.

It looks like the swims definitely helped Weatherly out in the Triathlon, as ABC News is reporting that during the event he had to swim 20 miles with thousands of other competitors.

The star has also been documenting his weight loss journey through his social media sites. He posted the following picture from the triathlon earlier this month.

However, the star says that not only does the working out feel good for his body, but also for his mind.

"I wanted to lose weight; I didn't anticipate the serenity," the star explains to Details magazine back in 2012. "Being in motion, suddenly my body was busy and so my head could work out some issues I had swept under a carpet of wine and cheese. Good therapy, that's a good run."
