Over the next two summers fans of the reality show Big Brother will be in luck as CBS announces that it has officially renewed the show for two more seasons.
Also in the cards is current talk show host of The Talk, Julie Chen, who will be hosting Big Brother: After Dark, the Big Brother live feed show. Chen has been a long-standing host for the reality series.
"Big Brother continues to be one of the summer's most dominant programs, and with each season, Alison and Rich produce the most twisted ways to evolve the series creatively," explained Chris Castallo, a CBS executive. "With its one-of-a-kind format, coupled with its passionate, socially engaged fan base, no other show comes close to duplicating it."
The summer-time reality show films contestants in a custom built house for 24 hours at a time. Each season lasts around three months or more. Contestants are cut off from the outside world, no cellphones or knowledge of current events. The purpose of the show is for the contestants to pass weekly evections and be the last housemate remaining. Winner takes all, a large sum of cash.
Chen loved how the current season 16 turned out and she told The Hollywood Reporter why.
"I love how this season unfolded because you didn't have the pettiness of last season or this group herd/power in numbers mentality from last season," Chen revealed. "This season the houseguests were smarter, in my opinion, more mature and more focused on playing the game rather than being in the popular kids' clique or hooking up in a showmance, so it was more about why we created Big Brother, to show the human condition.
The season 16 finale is to air Wednesday Sept. 24 as the Final three are set. The fight is on as Derrick Levasseur (an undercover cop), Cody Calafiore (an ex-soccer player and Victoria Rafaeli (a photographer) play to pocket $500,000.
Updates coming your way.
