In a report from Salon.com, a Virgin America airlines flight was recently diverted because of a "medical emergency" that took place aboard the plane. That emergency? A masturbating passenger. Yes, really.
The publication notes that the plane was travelling to Los Angeles from Boston and made an "unscheduled stop" in Omaha, Nebraska after 26-year-old Doug Adams was found "furiously" masturbating onboard the flight. Police reports state that Adams was "masturbating in flight and later tried to open an exit door."
An LA film producer named Sam Slater was on the plane and reportedly filmed Adams being detained by police. Slater claims that the young man was sitting behind him and was wearing a hospital bracelet.
The producer posted a tweet about the incident on Twitter:
Emergency landing in Omaha @VirginAmerica 363, Had To help restrain an unruly passenger try to open door mid flight. @TSA & @FBI en route

Reports claim that Adams returned from the bathroom – the location we're assuming is where the aforementioned masturbation took place (at least, we hope it was in the bathroom) – and began arguing with a woman who sat next to him. He then motioned to a flight attendant that he wanted the woman moved.
Slater states at that point Adams was "fidgeting and began to remove the plastic covering from the emergency exit door." He added that the 26-year-old "tried to pull the door open."
"Fortunately there were a couple of Boston police officers on the flight that were there at that point to help as well."
... does anyone else find it laughable that this happened on a Virgin flight?
