It is not a great day to be a drag queen who uses Facebook or anyone else who isn't using their legal name on the website. The social media site has been receiving backlash within the last couple of days after saying that they plan to delete hundreds of profiles that don't comply with their practices and standards of listing your legal name as the name on your profile. This delete will impact many of the contestants from RuPaul's Drag Race amongst countless others.

The GailyGrind reports that the site explained in a statement after they had a length discussion with a few drag queens, that they weren't backing down on their stance, saying that will delete anyone that is still using their "stage name." According to Facebook, "your real name as it would be listed on you credit card, driver's license or student ID," needs to be what is used to be part of their site.

"We had a good discussion with the group about their perspectives on our real name standard, and we stressed how the standard helps prevent bad behavior, while creating a safer and more accountable environment," Spokesperson for the site Andrew Souvall explained.

"We've decided to temporarily reactivate the profiles of several hundred members of the LGBT community whose profiles were recently deactivated," Souvall continues. "This will give them a chance to decide how they'd like to represent themselves on Facebook. Over the next few weeks we hope that they will decide to confirm their real name, change their name to their real name or convert their profile to a page."

However, many members of the drag community don't seem to be backing down as they have taken to their personal Facebook accounts to speak out against this controversy.
