NCIS just premiered its 12th season early this week but there was one familiar face missing from the show. Many of us fans were hoping and praying that Cote de Pablo, who's character Ziva departed the series after season 10, would finally make her comeback on the season premiere but we were sadly let down. However, we aren't losing hope as creator Gary Glasberg revealed some spoilers for the new season and they might even include an appearance by Pablo herself.

"We didn't kill her. So, Ziva's still out there and she's still alive... We'll have to see what happens," Glasberg explained in an interview with TV Guide.

Michael Weatherly's character, Tony Dinozzo might be dealing with moving on from Ziva this season, but don't rule that out as an excuse as to why Pablo won't be returning.

Glasberg also explained that he hopes that Ziva and Dinozzo will meet again in the future.

"I am sure they will see each other again," he explains "I'm deeply fascinated by what kind of fireworks would result."

As for how Dinozzo will deal with Ziva's departure, Glasberg says that Tony will be having a lot "more fun" this season.

"I think he's moved past the wounded bird [phase]," Gary explains. "It's really exciting. I don't think I've been this excited since maybe Season 3... I think season 12 is going to be a revelatory year. He's probably going to have more fun than he's ever had."
