Jason Derulo, Jordin Sparks Breakup: 'Talk Dirty' Singer, 'American Idol' Winner Call It Quits After 3 Years

Jason Derulo is not going to have Jordin Sparks to talk dirty to him in bed anymore, as the couple has just called it quits.

The former American Idol winner and the hip-hop singer revealed that they mutually broke up recently but explained that they will continue to remain close friends.

Sources for the couple have confirmed the news to E! News. The news site was told the couple still cares for each other and will still be a part of each other's lives, just not romantically.

The news comes as a shock to fans, as the couple always seemed like they were on their way to holy matrimony. Jason even admitted that his song "Marry Me" was actually inspired by Sparks.

"It is about Jordin, actually," Jason explained to E! in 2013 at the MTV Video Music Awards. "It's talking about how amazing it will be when I get down on one knee and it will be the greatest moment of my life."

He also added that "true love" was always at the base of his and Jordin's relationship.

The pair started dating in September of 2011 before going public with their relationship in January 2012.

Fans could definitely tell these two loved each other, as Sparks helped nurse Derulo back to health after he broke his vertebrae in 2012. He also explained to the news site that it was her help during that time that made him realize she was "the one."
