The first major crossover between Arrow and The Flash will occur relatively early in the shows' third and first seasons, respectively, and some new set photos of Stephen Amell as the Arrow and Grant Gustin as The Flash show the two ready to fight each other in the episode appropriately titled "Arrow vs. The Flash."
Arrow-TV.ru (via Comic Book Movie) posted some photos of Amell and Gustin in full costume, and Gustin decided to have a little fun with the photographers and dance for a bit. But the more serious photos seem to show the two on the cusp of a battle, and Oliver even has an arrow pointed directly at the Flash's back. In related news, EW.com first exclusively reported the news that Nick Tarabay would portray Captain Boomerang. In the comics, Captain Boomerang is actually a recurring villain for the Flash who uses, as his name would suggest, "specialized boomerangs that he wields with incredible skill." He has also been tied to the Suicide Squad in the comics.
Arrow will portray Captain Boomerang as "a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers." EW reports the character will first appear in Episode 7 of Season 3 and will then continue into Episode 8, which just so happens to be when The Flash speeds into Starling City as part of a crossover with his spin-off series.
It seems certain, then, that Captain Boomerang is the villain whom executive producer Greg Berlanti referenced when he spoke to FlashTVNews about the first crossover between the two shows. "We use a famous Flash villain, actually, in the Arrow episode, and then I would say as much as there is a villain in the Flash one - the first one ("Flash vs. Arrow") - we're not deceiving anybody with the title. There will be some real fisticuffs between our heroes."
