They say that certain people and paths will never cross, but try telling that to Stephen Manderson, or Professor Green, if you know him by his stage name. He married Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh despite him being a hard-man London rapper and her being a London princess, who many perceived as "posh" and out of his league. However, the pair are happily married, and she's looking to build on her MIC background, while Green has just released his latest album Growing Up In Public, and our review will explain why the sensational rap album might just propel him, and his wife to the world stage.
The three biggest tracks that make this album a top Hip Hop release, are "I Need Church" "Lullaby" and "Little Secrets." Green still has the hard cutting edge he's always had, but his music has a somewhat more confident tone, showing that his past depression is behind him, and evidently his marriage to Millie is responsible for this. 'Lullaby' is the biggest single on the album, and it does deal with his dark times, but alongside the rest of the album, it's hard to imagine this being anything other than a song he wrote about his dark times, or during them.
Now that his album's tearing the UK and European charts up, perhaps USA is his next target? He and Millie have the celebrity couple aspect that the world loves to watch, yet they seem to do their best to avoid the public eye, looking to be a happily married, settled couple instead. It's not all perfect, if you're to believe Green, he insisted earlier in 2014, that "I know I couldn't be with me: I'm an absolute nightmare. So I think Millie is commendable just for being with me, and she's helped me no end. I'm a huge pessimist - and too much pessimism can lead to depression. But Millie is a big optimist. I think that can be dangerous, too, if it becomes naïve, so we have a good balance; I just hope I haven't made her into a more negative person."
Millie seems just as happy however, saying: "Steve's so good at surprises: he lured me to Paris, pretending it was a business meeting, and then proposed, which was amazing. I'll always remember, on our wedding day last year, that as I was walking down the aisle, I stopped, took a deep breath to calm myself and I let out a sob - and managed to get some snot down my face just as Stephen turned to look at me. So now Stephen's always saying, "The first thing I saw, as you walked down that aisle, was that you had snot on your face!"
Now this happily married couple are ready to take over the world, and 'Growing Up In Public' has certainly helped that, but do they want much more than the fame they've got?
