Thursday was another big night for fall TV and the numbers prove it. ABC's new #TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday) definitely lived up to its expectations with high ratings to boot.
How to Get Away with Murder premiered on Thursday night along with new seasons of Scandal and Grey's Anatomy. ABC's Thursday lineup was full of crime, drama and scandal and that all lead to higher numbers.
According to TV Line, the highest-rated series for fall TV goes to How to Get Away with Murder. The latest show from Shonda Rhimes "premiered on Thursday night to 14 million total viewers and a 3.8 demo rating, up 33 percent and two tenths from Scandal's year-ago performance in the 10 pm time slot," TV Line reported.
Grey's Anatomy kicked off ABC's Thursday night lineup with 9.8 million viewers, which is a big increase from its season 10 finale (which had 8.9 million viewers). Scandal starring Kerry Washington had a good night with 11.9 viewers, which topped Grey's Anatomy's numbers from last year in the same time slot.
"In total viewers and the demo, ABC enjoyed its best Thursday night in five years," TV Line reported.
ABC wasn't the only network with big numbers on Thursday. According to Zap2It, CBS had 11.895 million viewers with ABC following a close second with 11.900 total viewers.
The rest of the big networks TV break downs were as follows...
NBC's Parenthood increased its numbers from their season finale last year with 4.3 million viewers during its season six premiere. The Biggest Loser maintained its numbers from last week at 4.5 million viewers.
Fox's Bones had a great premiere with 6.2 million viewers according to TV Line. CBS upped it viewers with its coverage of Thursday Night Football at 12.5 million viewers, up 26 percent from last week.
