What the media has portrayed as a bitter custody battle between Usher and ex-wife Tameka Foster, is simply a proceeding that Foster wants to get over with soon. Foster insisted in a recent statement that she did not initiate any of the court proceedings. She explained that she was content with the "joint custody arrangement" that she shared with Usher but that the R&B singer wanted otherwise.
Just last month, Foster's son Kile Glover passed away at the young age of 11. Usher had wanted to push back the court proceedings that were originally set for August because of "unnecessary stress and strain" as a result of the recent death of his stepson. However, Foster wanted to get through the court proceedings instead of prolonging them.
Since the tragic death of her son, Foster has released messages of gratitude and appreciation for those who have supported their family with kind thoughts, prayers and gifts.
"To begin, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the countless number of people who opened their hearts, extended their prayers, well-wishes and remained hopeful for my son Kile during the last weeks of his life," Foster released on Russell Simmon's news site Global Grind.
Foster, who is a Christian by faith, continued, "I truly believe that he has always been an Angel from birth and the World was just too small to contain a spirit so vast. I'm thankful and blessed to merely be the vessel that carried him and humbled that God gave him to us to love. I also feel humbled by everyone's show of concern, and knowing that Kile Glover touched the lives of so many has given me strength during my worst & darkest hour ... Again I THANK YOU ALL!"
Immediately after the funeral of Glover, tabloids began to bring out stories about the battle for custody of Usher and Foster's 2 sons. Both Usher and Foster have been presented as bad guys in their relationship, however media is not always right, she insisted.
"This may sound really cliché but you must NOT believe everything you read or hear and never judge... especially without solid facts and always, but always consider the source. Discernment is key.
"My boys are my entire world and I will fight tooth and nail to keep all of my sons together as a family, I pray for a swift, peaceful resolution so that we all can move forward."
Usher and Foster will have to appear in court on August 13 in Fulton County, GA.
