The 2014 Ryder Cup was one to remember for the good, the bad and the ugly.
Europe won the competition, 16 1/2 to 11 1/2, against the United States. Rory McIIroy, Phil Mickelson and Tom Watson have made headlines for different reasons since.
McIlroy partied, posting a picture of himself in a kilt and a wig, showing he was prepared to "let his hair down" and enjoy their victory. Mickelson and Watson, however, are at war with one another, and this feud does not appear to have an end in sight.
Neither U.S. players stayed to enjoy the aftermath, partially because of their feud. Mickelson hit out at Watson recently, and now Watson has replied.
He explained, "The issue between Phil and myself is basically a difference of opinion. He has a difference of opinion where he would like to manage the team and I certainly had my own opinion on how I'd manage the team. That's the controversy and that's the issue, but I have to say that I'm very proud of my team's efforts.
"One thing I asked them to do from the beginning was to give absolutely everything they have and they did. They just ran up against a buzz saw. The European team was very strong and had four of the top five players in the world. When you play against them, you better be firing on all cylinders and, frankly, we weren't, so that's it."
Will Team USA get revenge in the next tournament? Will the American golfers fix their issues in private, or will they continue to air their harsh words for one another in public?
