The NFL is one of the best sports in the world, and one reason for this is because it never stops moving: One man may be a fan favourite one day, but gone the next.
Fans may have emotions, but the National Football League is a business, and for that reason even the likes of Tom Brady and Dennis Allen are not untouchable, as the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders have found out in the last few days.
Could Allen give up his head coaching career, and could Brady walk away as he continues to struggle, retiring from the game?
On Monday night, Brady struggled as his Patriots lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on the live Monday Night Football game, embarrassing himself across the nation and the world.
But 24 hours earlier, Allen and his Raiders did the same at the London Wembley Stadium game. Last night, Allen was fired and Brady was torn in two. Allen may find it hard to get a coaching role again while Brady will get time, but with time against him, could this be the end of the legendary quarterback we knew and loved?
Allen, 42, went 8-28 as Oakland's coach, and he appeared to get worse with each game. Raiders tight end David Ausberry insisted that "It's a tough deal, especially for him. As we all know, this is the NFL and it keeps growing. So we just all got to as a team pull together and keep going forward. That's all we really can do."
With Ausberry's words in mind, will the Patriots follow that guideline when it comes to their hero Brady? Time will tell, but Brady may walk away sooner rather than later.
