Although none of the five original members of the hit 1990s British pop group Spice Girls have made an official statement to confirm rumors that the band will be reuniting onstage at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremonies, vocalist Melanie Brown can't help but to fuel the fire through Twitter.
Ongoing speculation has it that Victoria Beckham (Posh), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), Emma Bunton (Baby), and Melanie Brown (Scary) will reunite onstage in London for the first time since 2007, with hopes for a second reunion tour to follow.
Brown (more popularly known as Mel B) recently arrived in London and has been hinting that she is looking forward to the show. Early on Wednesday she wrote on Twitter:
@OfficialMelB: "Can't wait to wear Zuhair Murad clothes this weekend!!"
Zuhair is a renowned designer who is known for creating extravagant stage costumes for popular musicians. Zuhair recently designed the outfits for singer Jennifer Lopez's current tour.
Initially there were rumors that Victoria Beckham, fashion model and wife of soccer star David Beckham, would not return to the Spice Girls stage because she wished to concentrate on her fashion career. But although Beckham has stated she does not foresee a full-out future tour, she does claim that she loves being back with the girls and that the band is excited to be performing at the Olympics. She even posted a photo of a glittery microphone on her Twitter last week, posting:
@victoriabeckham: "Look what I found!! X vb."
Looks like the chances of the girls spicing up the London stage are looking pretty good. The city will bid farewell to the Olympic Games on Sunday, August 12.
