Before Brian Michael Bendis wrote Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man and All-New X-Men, there was the superhero/police procedural, Powers. New cast photos – featuring Sharlto Copley, Susan Heyward, and Noah Taylor – offer audiences a first look at the upcoming PlayStation series.
As we mentioned here, Powers is set in a world where superpowers are have become the norm. The comic book series centers on two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, assigned to the "Powers" Division of the Chicago Police Department. The first story arc, "Who Killed Retro Girl?" follows the detectives as they investigate the murder of a popular super heroine (played by Michelle Forbes).
The Ultimate Spider-Man writer shared the first set photos on his official Tumblr. In the first snapshot, we see the Oldboy actor and The Following actress as their alter egos, Walker and Pilgrim. In the second picture, we see the Game of Thrones actor smoking a cigarette as his character, Johnny Royalle.
Bendis writes in his Tumblr post, "From the minute he stepped onto the set, Sharlto has invested every part of himself into this role. He adds layers and layers into Christian Walker. He is doing everything I hoped he would do, which is make the television version of this character unique and exciting."
Not only did the Powers creator share a sneak peek at the live-action adaptation, the post also shares news about the show's panel and autograph signing at New York Comic Con. Members of the cast and crew will be at the "POWERS: Bringing the Graphic Novels to Life Exclusively on PlayStation" panel on October 11. Heyward, Taylor, Olesya Rulin, Logan Browning, and Eddie Izzard will be in attendance to discuss their counterparts.
