The Dead Rising video game franchise is definitely one of the most fun titles out there, taking the seriousness of a zombie apocalypse and making it outrageously entertaining. Clearly we can't wait for the new movie that was recently announced, which has yet to receive a release date. In a new interview with Slash Film, the film's director, Zach Lipovsky, detailed some plot points and shared some teasers about the project.

"I think the franchise actually brings a lot of new energy to the genre that we haven't seen in a zombie movie," the director explained. "The idea that you can be bitten and remain human as long as you take your medicine everyday, is very interesting and dramatic. Similar to the social stigma of living with HIV."

We can expect some great action from this film, even though the budget is small and it's being released as a digital feature. The director is certain to deliver, though, and is excited to explore what the video game franchise has already set up.

"Another very cool element from the game is the zombies remember a little bit about their previous lives. There is something really haunting about seeing a zombie cop randomly firing his gun, or a zombie mom pushing a stroller," Lipovsky stated. "Finally what I love in Dead Rising is the city is locked down, but the rest of the world is fine. Families are watching the zombie apocalypse on TV while eating dinner like it's the Super Bowl."
