Victoria Beckham just opened her very own luxury boutique in London. Although Beckham sells her collection in 60 countries, this will be her first store. According to WWD, the designer speaks about the reason why she chose to open her store after so many years of success in the industry. "I think the time is now because I know my customer," Beckham said.
Beckham hired architect, Farshid Moussavi, to transform the space into her dream boutique. The 6,040-square-foot shop, located on Dover Street, includes three floors and houses the collections from Beckham's eponymous label. These include her Victoria Victoria Beckham, denim, eyewear and accessories lines.
At the entrance, there is a a huge, sliding concrete door and the street-facing window has no display. A gigantic polished concrete staircase connects the three store levels. Floors are also polished concrete, and are complimented by stainless steel counters, zigzag clothing rails and golden chain hangers, and last but not least, stainless steel mirror ceilings. The design clearly has Beckham's impeccable style all over it. One interesting detail about the store is that there are no cash registers. All transactions will take place via iPad. Very chic!
"There are a lot of people - the general public - who've continued on this journey with me, and I want everybody to feel welcome, whether they're going to buy something, or whether they just want to come and check out the architecture. And I really wanted people to get a sense of me the minute they walked through the door," said Beckham.
Beckham also announced she is opening an office in New York. "I want to focus on the U.S. this year. To take it to the next level, I need a team on the ground living and breathing everything here in America."
The office, which is located on W. 25th Street, is set to open in February 2015.
