Before Michael Phelps was arrested for an DUI Tuesday, the swim champ had been gambling for 8 hours at a Baltimore casino, TMZ reported.
Casino sources claim that Phelps went to the Horseshoe Casino on Monday afternoon, found a private VIP gambling room stayed and played until about 1 am Tuesday morning.
According to the gossip site, Phelps was playing blackjack. There were little details on whether or not he played other card games during his 8 hour gambling. Sources are revealing that the former Olympian is a huge poker player.
But Phelps drinking inside of the casino is what probably led to his DUI arrest. His choice of drink was a cold beer. Phelps was pulled over around 1:40am, near the casino.
MStars News has also learned that Phelps is a regular at the Horseshoe casino, he was spotted playing poker there just last month.
MStars News previously reported that Phelps made a statement about his DUI arrest, via Twitter:
"Earlier this morning, I was arrested and charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines."
