Remember all that time you spent wasting on your phone playing Angry Birds? Well, good news, now it's getting a movie! And judging from the cast, it's gearing up to be very funny.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that former Saturday Night Live players Jason Sudeikis, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage will lend their voices to the leading roles of the upcoming film based on the game.
Also set to have a part in the film – a vocal part, of course – is Danny McBride, Josh Gad, Tony Hale, another SNL name, Kate McKinnon, Hannibal Buress and Keegan-Michael Key, to merely name some.
The films producer, John Cohen, recently released a statement saying, "I'm extremely proud of this cast. Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny Bill, Maya and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they're surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent –– these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we're thrilled to have them all on board."
THR reports that the announcement of the cast took place after users "launched one billion sling shots."
"With two and a half billion gamers around the world, Angry Birds is one of those brands that can drive massive fan engagement," stated Sony Pictures' president of theatrical marketing, Dwight Caines.
The film is being directed by both Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis and inked by screenwriter Jon Vitti.
Angry Birds currently has a release date of July 1, 2016.
