As LeBron James returns to Ohio for his second stint with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers, he has joined forces with ESPN and the Disney Channel to give fans a glimpse into how he got there in a new series called Becoming.

James' Springhill Production Company, which he runs with business partner and long-time pal Maverick Carter, will debut its brand new series on Disney XD beginning on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.

"I'm really excited about helping develop Becoming and bringing this kind of program to kids," James said in a statement. "Sports and athletes were my inspiration growing up. It was the stories about Michael Jordan, Deion Sanders, and Allen Iverson that kept me dreaming. When I learned that they had some of the same struggles and challenges I did, it made everything seem possible. That's what Becoming is all about."

The first 30-minute episode goes behind the scenes of James's childhood growing up in Akron, Ohio.

"It is incredibly exciting to use our style of non-fiction storytelling to showcase LeBron's extraordinary story," Connor Schell, a vice president and executive producer for ESPN Films, said in a statement. "For an audience of kids everywhere, the tone of the show is meant to be aspirational and illustrate how much support and hard work goes into LeBron becoming who he is today,"

Not all of the episodes will be about The King, though. Springhill has plans to feature the stories of other successful athletes in future episodes as well.

This is not James's first foray into TV production. His other current project with Springhill, a semi-biographical comedy called Survivor's Remorse, will air its debut episode this Saturday at 9 p.m. on Starz. The show follows a basketball star named Cam Calloway as he signs a multimillion-dollar professional basketball contract and is thrown into the national spotlight as he and his hometown team vie for a championship. It has been picked up for six episodes.
