Ariana Grande Headed To Broadway?- Will 'Break Free' Singer Star In Gloria Estefan's New Musical 'On Your Feet?'

Could Ariana Grande be heading to The Great White Way that is Broadway? She would definitely be if Gloria Estefan has anything to say about it. The Latina singer is in the middle of putting the finishing touches on her new Broadway musical On Your Feet, and she wants the 21-year-old starlet to play the lead in the new production.

Taking its name from Gloria's hit song "Get On Your Feet," the musical is based around the life of the 57-year-old singer and tells the story of her and her husband Emilio Estefan's rise to superstardom.

While it will feature the hit song that it derives it's title from, it will also include some of Gloria's other hits including "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You," "Conga," "1-2-3," and "Live For Loving You."

According to AZCentral.com, casting has been held in both Miami and New York, but if Estefan had her way she would want Ariana Grande to portray the younger version of herself.

Gloria spoke to the New York Daily News about her admiration for Grande, explaining that she first came in contact with the star when she was eight years old singing on a cruise ship.

"I saw her when she was eight years old on a cruise ship and she had sung this song, and I literally went up to her and her mom, 'I don't know if you plan on doing this, but this is what you need to be doing because you are an amazing singer,'" Estefan revealed.

While the encounter might have only been during a karaoke session, Gloria says she was amazed by Grande.

"She was doing karaoke and we were listening because I love to go watch that stuff and it was amazing!"

Here's to hoping that Ariana takes Gloria up on her offer and stars in the production when it hits Broadway next Summer.
