Now that audiences got a short taste of Marvel's Agent Carter during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. second season premiere, a major new cast member has been added to the upcoming ABC espionage series. Reuniting with his Captain America co-star, Dominic Cooper reprises his role with Hayley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter.
On its official website, Marvel has announced the addition of the Need for Speed action star to the cast. Cooper will reprise the role of billionaire inventor, Howard Stark. In the comic book mythology, Howard is the father of Tony Stark, who is known as the superhero Iron Man.
In the plot synopsis, "Peggy (Atwell) must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers."
Towards the end of The First Avenger, Stark and Carter are in a state of grief after losing Rogers. From what we know so far from Agent Carter: Marvel One-Shot, the duo will become the founding fathers of the peace-keeping law enforcement unit, S.H.I.EL.D.
As we mentioned here, the second season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. opened with a flashback to WWII. After raiding the last known Hydra site, Peggy, leader of the Howling Commandos, mentions taking the extraterrestrial artifacts to Stark for examination. We suspected since then, Cooper would step into the role of Stark again.
Agent Carter will premiere during the mid-break of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Readers, are you excited to see Dominic Cooper back as Howard Stark?
