Jerry Seinfeld's long-running sitcom "about nothing," Seinfeld, is arguably one of the greatest comedy shows of all time. So when the comedian praises another series with that same description, it should be considered some of the highest acclaim it can receive. In a recent interview with Vulture, the Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee web series creator spoke highly of Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein's IFC channel hit series Portlandia, deeming it his favorite current show and saying he believes it's one of the best ever!
"I'm kind of obsessed with Portlandia right now," Seinfeld told Vulture during this week's Clio Awards. "I mean, wow, it's just too beyond brilliant. I was just in Portland, and everywhere you go, it's like, 'is this a sketch, or is this the real show?'"
Jerry of course compared the show to his own hit sitcom, singling out the "Women And Women First" bookstore characters Toni and Candace and how they're "mean for no reason."
"You know what they're really good at? We kind of did this on my show: They've got extremely mean waiters, and random people who are really mean for no reason," he explained. "I love it when people are difficult and hostile for absolutely no reason. I don't know why, but that's really funny."
Seinfeld added: I think that's the best comedy on TV right now and it's easily one of the best comedies of all time. Well, it's my opinion. What do I know about comedy?"
He even ended the praise with a laugh! What do you think of Seinfeld's comments on Portlandia? Let us know in the comments section below!
