Miami Dolphins defensive end Derrick Shelby was arrested Saturday night at a nightclub in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and his mugshot showed him bloodied and bruised.
Shelby was nabbed for allegedly trespassing and resisting arrest without violence, though he continues to deny he did anything wrong.
"Derrick maintains his innocence," Daniel Rosenberg, Shelby's agent, told the Miami Sun Sentinel. "There's a lot of conflicting information about his arrest."
The Sentinel reported that, according to a Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman, Shelby was "reportedly causing a disturbance at a club located at 111 SW 2nd Ave."
That is the address of Off the Hookah, which identifies itself as a restaurant, hookah lounge and nightclub.
"Security officers employed at this establishment and uniformed Fort Lauderdale police officers asked Shelby to leave the establishment and he refused," Fort Lauderdale Detective DeAnna Greenlaw told the Sentinel in an email Sunday morning.
Both of the charges facing Shelby are misdemeanors.
"We are aware of the reports regarding Derrick Shelby and are in the process of gathering more information," the Dolphins said in a written statement, according to the Miami Herald.
The National Football League has not yet commented on the arrest.
Shelby's mug shot, meanwhile, is garnering quite a bit of attention, as he appears bloodied and bruised.

"He's going to plead not guilty," Rosenberg said, citing that the mug shot "speaks volumes," considering his arrest was said to have been non-violent.
Shelby has notched six tackles and two sacks in four games for the Dolphins defense so far this season. He joined the team in 2012, undrafted out of the University of Utah.
This is a bye week for Miami.
