Talk about being scared out of your minds. Thrill-seekers who took to Disney California Adventure over the weekend in California got a little too much adventure when guests were stranded on Mickey's Fun Wheel for almost two hours.
According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, passengers who decided to take a ride on Mickey's Fun Wheel didn't have too much fun when the ride decided to malfunction Thursday afternoon. It is still unclear what caused the ride to break down, but luckily none of the guests were injured in the incident.
But they did lose some valuable time riding other rides, as they were stranded on the big wheel for almost two hours. The ride usually takes about nine minutes from start to finish.
The 30 guests who were stranded at the Anaheim park were safely evacuated after the ride was manually restarted by park workers.
Despite the 150-foot Ferris wheel's malfunction, the park stayed open and the guests were safely removed from the ride by 6 p.m.
"All of our guests have been evacuated," Betsy Sanchez, a spokeswoman for the resort, explained to the Orange County Register. Sanchez didn't explain whether or not the ride would be back in action that day after the incident.
The news site also got in touch with some of the people who were stranded on the ride, who didn't appear too happy about the ordeal.
"We're pretty irritated," Jessica Rubio said to the site by phone, while she was still on the ride with her boyfriend. "Everyone is just sitting here."
Larry Sanchez, another passenger, also expressed his annoyance over the malfunction, saying, "The minutes took forever." But he did look on the bright side, saying, "Thank God there was a little bit of wind."
Otherwise, the passengers would have been extremely uncomfortable in the 100-degree weather.
Hopefully, the park reimbursed the guests for the price of admission, but those details are unknown at this time.
