The Twilight reign doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. While fans know that E.L. James erotic novel series Fifty Shades of Grey originally started off as fan fiction for the steamy vampire saga, it looks like another sensual series is trying to steal James's spotlight.
It was just announced that Headline Books, along with other global publishing houses, have bought the trilogy series A Pound of Flesh from the Lorella Belli Literary Agency. The trilogy, including A Pound of Flesh, Ounce of Pain, and A World Of Pleasure, was written by U.K. schoolteacher Sophie Jackson, who admits that the books started out as homage to the Twilight movies.
According to The Independent, the series is set in Brooklyn where prison tutor, Kat, falls in love with her student and inmate Carter.
Kate Byrne, who acquired the series for Headline, explained, "A Pound of Flesh is an extraordinary book, packing an emotional punch on so many levels, beginning as the ultimate forbidden love story with an irresistible bad boy hero and a feisty, complex heroine, drawn together by a secret which connects them in way they cannot foresee."
Byrne goes on to applaud the novels for their intense emotion and passion.
"I, and the whole Headline Eternal team, were blown away by Sophie's innate storytelling ability, her remarkable authentic American voice and the intensity of emotion, passion and true love she brings so vividly to life."
According to Thebookseller.com the series will be available in the US through Simon & Schuster and around the globe through different publishing companies. The source also reveals that the novel, which was first posted on fanfiction.net, has been read over 4 million times.
The first book A Pound of Flesh will be available around the world in the summer of 2015.
