John Witherspoon is a smart cookie by using the Twitter death hoax to his advantage.  RIP John Witherspoon has been trending and some people actually believe that the comedian is dead.  Witherspoon himself confirmed that is he alive and has been tweeting away to his increasing followers.

Witherspoon's son J.D. Witherspoon tweeted, "Damn why my Dad pass me up in Followers so fast tho? #Smh lol"

When the news reached the 70-year-old of his death, he wrote, "I AIN'T DEAD"  and complained that Twitter announced his death "WAY TOO EARLY".

Folks including Russell Simmons and Royce Reed helped to spread the news that Witherspoon is not dead.

Royce Reed tweeted, "John Witherspoon is NOT dead! Yall better stop puttin ppl in the grave!!! Smh"

After a 1 hour spree of trending, the hype died down and finally Witherspoon went to bed.

"Well I guess I aint #Trending anymore but that was interesting, thanks to everybody who showed that they care bout me, now Im going to bed".
