The Season 4 premiere of Homeland showed that all is not well between Carrie (Claire Danes) and Quinn (Rupert Friend). The double feature last Sunday also revealed that Quinn's mental state is shaky at best after he killed two civilians overseas when trying to save his boss, Sandy (Corey Stoll).
The hint of a romantic undercurrent has been in the show for quite a while, and fans have been clamoring for it in the lead up to Season 4. But could it happen this Sunday, if it happens at all? The "Ask Ausiello" column at TVLine reports the show will have some progress on that front in Episode 3.
"Question: I need a Homeland scoop - ideally something about Carrie and Quinn. -Jane
Ausiello: There's major movement on that front in this Sunday's episode, as Quinn is forced to confront his true feelings for Carrie (and the collateral damage those feelings have incurred). By the end of the hour, all eyes (and ears) will be on Carrie when she makes an impromptu confession that she may quickly regret. (FWIW, I like where this storyline is going and I'm not ashamed to admit it.)"
Quinn clearly still has concern for Carrie, as he showed in the Season 4 premiere. But the "Matt's Inside Line" column at TVLine reported this nugget last month. "And that concern her may pave the way for a new... closeness. As show boss Alex Gansa said to me, in recounting the important people in Carrie's life nowadays, 'She's got a burgeoning relationship - although not romantic, yet - with Peter Quinn.'"
What do you think will happen between the two in the next episode and during the rest of Season 4? Let us know in the comments section.
