Despite rumors to the contrary, Ray Allen has not signed a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. At least not yet. Allen's agent, Jim Tanner of Tandem Sports, tweeted out the following messages on Tuesday, clearing up the speculation that had taken the Internet by storm:
Amid continued rumors and having spoken with Ray today, let me be very clear... (cont. 1/2)

Ray's position has not changed. Ray has not decided if he will play this season nor has he signed w/ the @Cavs (2/2) — TANDEM (@_tandemse) October 7, 2014
To be fair, though, the Cavs have been campaigning pretty hard for the 18-year veteran to join their team.
According to Fox Sports, Cavs GM David Griffin has spoken with Allen's reps to confirm their interest in signing the 6'5" shooting guard, and stars LeBron James and James Jones have each voiced their desire to play alongside him.
"He knows we'd love to have him here," Jones reportedly told Fox Sports.
If Allen does sign with Cleveland, many believe the deal would put the team in prime position to vie for the NBA championship this season, with the likes of James, Dion Waiters and Kevin Love rounding out the starting rotation.
With all of that said, however, there is no guarantee Allen will return to the league at all. He may decide that it's time to hang up his sneakers and retire.
"To continue playing, really, the only argument is I can because I'm in great shape," he told the Hartford Courant in August. "But just because you can doesn't mean you have to. Many people over these last couple of weeks have lobbied for me to continue to play. My argument for not playing is, I have done a significant amount in my career and I appreciate everything that has come my way and as I've gotten older, I'm 39, there are so many things in life I want to be able to do to affect change – like being around kids full time, which I enjoy."
