The twists and surprises that pop up in Doctor Who - specifically the current season 8 episodes - always catch viewers off guard, leading to quality TV. So when star Peter Capaldi films these scenes, as a fan it must be a bit bittersweet, wouldn't you think? Well, it turns out he makes the most of his situation by waiting until the last minute before filming to read the twists in the scripts, so as to be as surprised as the viewer!
"I am having a big meeting and being told what is happening next year, which will be interesting," Capaldi said, according to The Mirror, adding: "I try to operate on a need to know basis because I would rather just let things unfold."
The Twelfth Doctor actor went on to explain that he likes to be surprised just as any fan of the series would; after all, we all know that Peter is one of the truest Whovians out there!
"It is because I am a fan and also I am never really sure if you have to act having a big surprise that it is good to know about it months in advance," he explained. "You have to know about it before because it is in the script and you have to shoot it but if you limit the stuff you know about it is more fun."
Always the excited interviewee, Capaldi gushed about his current gig as The Doctor, explaining: "I feel so lucky to be in this position, it has been a wonderful year and challenging in many ways but what a wonderful challenge to have. It is the best job on telly. How did I get it? I don't know but there you are."
