Before The Walking Dead makes its way back on AMC for the season 5 premiere, ComiXology is celebrating its much anticipated return with its Walking Dead comic book sale. The revolutionary cloud-based digital comics platform is giving readers a chance to look back on the Image Comics horror title, through the first 126 issues.
Based on popular Image comic, before he was the executive producer of his own adaptation, writer/creator Robert Kirkman came up with the concept of an ongoing human drama taking place after a zombie apocalypse. As each season progressed, former sheriff Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) leads his group of survivors as they search for a safe and secure home. It's not the undead they have to worry about, it's the living.
In a press statement, Kirkman is very enthusiastic about readers being introduced to his horror comic, "ComiXology is giving new and die-hard The Walking Dead fans worldwide a chance to experience my original vision from the very first issue. These discounted issues, collections and bundles make it easy for new-comers to The Walking Dead comic to jump in headlong, especially with comiXology's awesome reading experience!"
Nearly every issue of The Walking Dead comic will be sold at 99 cents. There will be two web-only bundles collecting issues #1-50 and issues #51-100 for only $39.99.
ComiXology co-founder and CEO, David Steinberger, adds to the excitement, "Fans of The Walking Dead TV show, we challenge you to try out the epic comic series during this amazing sales event. With more than 120 issues, more than 20 collections and 2 super-sized bundles to get you started on the epic saga of The Walking Dead comic series, this sale is a not-to-be-missed event."
As we mentioned here about our top favorite events at New York Comic Con 2014, ComiXology will also be there to promote panels, giveaways, and a party for charity.
ComiXology's The Walking Dead Sale has started now and will end October 13th, after the fifth season starts on AMC. Readers, are you excited for your favorite TV show to return?
