Nickelodeon has been searching high and low for its television series star for School of Rock and it's finally settled with actor and comedian Tony Cavalero.

"I am so honored to be part of the rad legacy that is 'School of Rock,'" Tony said in a statement on The Wrap. "Jack Black is one of my biggest comedy influences and I am ready to shred!"

The film School of Rock is a 2003 comedy starring comedian and actor Jack Black. The storyline follows Black's character, Dewey Finn, a struggling rock singer as he is kicked out of his band and disguises himself at his roommate's substitute teaching job at the prestigious prep school where he obviously does not fit in. However he learns quickly that these kids are bright.

With his passion for music, he begins to realize that his students have a great talent for the art and ultimately form a fourth-grade band. He signs them up to compete in an upcoming contest, "Battle of the Bands"

Other members of the film include Joan Cusack and Sarah Silverman.

Though there is no word yet on when the television series will be released, but is know to have a green light on 13 episodes.

As Rolling Stone reported, Nickelodeon ordered the small-screen adaptation back in August and the show will feature the misadventures of Dewey Finn and his students. The show is to air in the spring and will begin production in the coming months.

The movie's director, Richard Linklater, will take on the shows executive producer slot, along with Scott Rudin, Jim and Steve Armogida.

Cavalero is one of the main members of the Los Angeles The Groundlings. His background is not in acting but in military where he graduated from the Virginia Military Institute. Cavelero is well connected, as he is a part of Robert Downey Jr's improve group.
