It's finally that time of year - hockey season!
The Carolina Hurricanes battle it out on the ice against the New York Islanders in Game 1 of each team series on Friday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. EST at the PNC Arena in Raleigh. Read on to see where fans can watch and listen to a live stream of the "Opening Week" hockey game online and catch up-to-date feeds and coverage on highlight plays and scores.
Heading into the 2014 regular season, the Hurricanes snag the meager No. 30 spot in ESPN.com's official NHL power rankings:
"The loss of Jordan Staal for months to a broken leg merely exacerbates an ugly situation in Carolina that isn't going to get any prettier, at least until they get a shot at Connor McDavid at next June's draft."
Meanwhile, the Islanders currently hold the No. 18 spot (out of 30 total teams):
"Lots to like about the Isles as they prepare for their final season at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, especially if Jaroslav Halak and Chad Johnson can provide the consistent goaltending that has eluded the team in recent years."
The game will be broadcasted live on local TV channels FSCR and MSG+, but fans can also listen in on the radio at WRAL, 99.9 The Fan, and WRHU.
