‘SNL’ Vets David Spade, Adam Sandler Creating ‘Joe Dirt’ Sequel For Crackle [VIDEO]

It looks like former Saturday Night Live player David Spade is gearing up to throw on that wig and get back in that hemi, because The Hollywood Reporter is now claiming the comedian is reprising his role as Joe Dirt from the 2001 film for Sony's Crackle Productions alongside Adam Sandler's famed Happy Madison Productions.

So far, those also involved in the film is actor-writer Fred Wolf, who will co-write and executive produce. Production is set to begin next month (Nov. 2014), and will debut on Crackle the following year. THR reports that the film will pick up where the first ended.

On the news, Spade said, "I'm beyond stoked that Joe Dirt will finally hit the screens again on Crackle." He further joked, "I've been sleeping in this wig for years and it will be nice to wear it in the daytime again."

Crackle's GM Eric Berger noted, "The original film has been a longtime viewer favorite, ranking among the most viewed in our library, and we decided to produce and distribute the sequel as a feature for fans everywhere."
