Rapper Eminem seems to be holed up in the studio these days. The Shady Records founder has just finished wrapping up the upcoming album for the hip-hop super group Slaughterhouse ("Welcome to: Our House," set to be released August 28) and now Em has confirmed to MTV News Correspondent Sway Calloway that he's just started working on his next solo album. This will be his eighth (seventh major studio album), and it follows up the hit 2010 record "Recovery."
During a radio interview with Calloway, Eminem said in regards to a new solo album, "I've actually kinda just started. I've been on the move a little bit too, so I've in between things, sneak songs in here and there. We actually just finished the [Slaughterhouse] album last week... Now I've got time to be able to start doing things for my own project."
In regards to the upcoming Slaughterhouse album "Welcome to: Our House," Eminem claims, "I think hip-hop needs this. When people hear it, they're going to be pleasantly surprised, people who don't know what they're capable of."
Slaughterhouse consists of the rappers Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Royce da 5'9".
Slim Shady admits that at this point in his career, "It's about making songs now, trying to take that next step."
Looks like Eminem's next record is just in its early stages of production, but considering the success the "Without Me" rapper has had up until this point, doesn't look like fans will be disappointed with the wait.
