The third installment of Bridget Jones's Diary will be without one of its main character, British heartthrob Hugh Grant who has decided not to film a possible Bridget Jones's Diary 3.
"I decided not to do it," Grant told Free Radio of the sequel. "But I think they're going to go ahead and do it without Daniel. The book's excellent, by the way, but the script is completely different — well, the script as I last saw it a few years ago."
The film has been in the works for years now and has even come up with potential ideas of having the story line be revolved around Bridget Jones's "baby" which is based on a screenplay by Helen Fielding. Fielding is the author of the Bridget Jones character.
Though the last hint of a third installment was back in August of 2011, the news of Grant not participating in this film gives hope to fans that the movie is closer to production.
The first installment, Bridget Jones's Diary debuted in 2001 in the U.K., it was later released in the U.S. after great success. Bridget Jones, played by actress Renée Zellweger lead her to receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)
Hugh has been a busy man since filming Bridge Jones and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. He has starred in Did you Hear About the Morgan's? Alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and most recently The Rewrite co-starring Marisa Tomei.
Thought we are sad to see Grant leave the cast, we can hopefully count on Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth to gives us a good show.
