Katie Holmes To Reprise Her Role As Jackie Kennedy In New Reelz Channel Miniseries 'The Kennedys: After Camelot'

The Giver actress Katie Holmes is heading back to television! The network announced that the 35-year-old actress will be reprising her role as Jackie Kennedy in a new Reelz Channel miniseries.

Holmes will be back in the new miniseries called The Kennedys: After Camelot. The mother-of-one previously played Jackie Kennedy in the 2011 miniseries on the same network titled The Kennedys. According to People, the Dawson's Creek alum will also be an executive producer on the series, which will be made up of four installments. She will produce one of the four installments.

"Katie elegantly portrayed Jackie Kennedy in the first miniseries and now will continue the role as Jackie grows into the Jackie O that the world knows best," Reelz CEO Stan E. Hubbard said in a statement.

"Katie is brave, committed and perfect for this role. She is a strong, talented woman who understands how special and respected Jackie Kennedy, and then Jackie Onassis was, as an international icon," he added.

The original miniseries was eight parts and gained 10 Emmy nominations and won four of the 10 categories it was nominated for, TV Line reported. The original director, Jon Cassar, will direct three of the four installments of this miniseries, and Katie will do the other.

The Kennedys: After Camelot will be based on J. Randy Taraborrelli's bestselling novel, After Camelot: A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present. The new miniseries is expected to air on Reelz in 2016 with production slated to begin in 2015.

"The Kennedys was a brilliant execution of storytelling based on the lives of one of the world's best known families. We are delighted that we were able to step up and acquire the broadcast rights to that property and we have every confidence that this new miniseries will be as enthusiastically received as the last one," Stan revealed in the network's statement.

This will be Katie's first TV appearance since her brief stint as the "Slutty Pumpkin" on How I Met Your Mother in 2011 and her first appearance as Jackie O in The Kennedys, also in 2011.
