2012 Olympics Medal Count: USA in the Lead, China Second [Country List]

Friday (August 10) was a very good day for the USA teams at the 2012 London Olympics.  Team USA took a further leap in the lead in front of China after Team USA brought in four medals Friday.  China only received one medal on the same day.  

The United States now has 13 more medals than China.  After 14 days of vigorous competition in various sports Team USA Olympians tallied up a total of 94 medals of which 41 are gold.  Team China is also doing very well with a total of 81 medals and 37 are gold.

The United States won the following Olympic medals on Friday (August 10):

Gold: Men's Freestyle Wrestling
Gold: Women's 4x100 track relay
Silver: Men's 4x100 track relay
Silver: Women's Taekwondo

China took home one silver medal in the women's synchronized swimming competition.

Here is the list of the total Olympic medal count for the top 10 countries as of August 10.

1) United States: 41 Gold + 26 Silver + 27 Bronze = 94 Total
2) China: 37 Gold + 25 Silver + 19 Bronze = 81 Total
3) Russia: 15 Gold + 21 Silver + 27 Bronze = 63 Total
4) Great Britain: 25 Gold + 15 Silver + 17 Bronze = 57 Total
5) Germany: 10 Gold + 18 Silver + 14 Bronze = 42 Total
6) Japan: 5 Gold + 14 Silver + 16 Bronze = 35 Total
7) Australia: 7 Gold + 14 Silver + 10 Bronze = 31 Total
8) France: 9 Gold + 9 Silver + 12 Bronze = 30 Total
9) South Korea: 13 Gold + 7 Silver + 7 Bronze = 27 Total
10) Italy: 7 Gold + 6 Silver + 8 Bronze = 21 Total

Team USA is up for another gold for the final men's basketball competition on Sunday (August 12)  The United States is up against Spain.

These two countries are no stranger to playing each other at the Olympics.  In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the two teams made it to the finals with USA winning by 11 points.

All star players from top United States basketball teams joined to play the 2012 Olympics game.

The USA vs Spain basketball final will kick off on Sunday 10 a.m. EST. with live streaming on NBC.
