Google has set up shop in the Big Apple with their latest YouTube Space New York. The most most popular video hosting website will establish its own video production facility, entitled "BrandLab" at its Manhattan headquarters.
The New York Times reports YouTube has built the physical infrastructure where advertisers can partner with the creators of their premium content. For example, Maybelline could use the space to co-produce content with a YouTube lifestyle coach. Because the audience is already there, the Brandlab is definitely a way to produce the content to reach the masses.
Through their Space NY Twitter account, Youtube announced, "And we're live from NY! Get ready for something 'new and delicious.' See you at the Space. #youtubeny"
In an interview with the Times, Lance Podell, the global head of YouTube Spaces, explains what makes the city of New York the prefect spot for their production offices, "People think of YouTube as a West Coast company, but we're here because New York is at the intersection of many creative communities - fashion, film, big media companies and of course, Madison Avenue."
Planned since 2012, Brandlab has been divided as a production facility, video lab and university. YouTube creators will have access to all the tools necessary to advance their technique.
According to its LinkedIn profile, the Head of Brandlab will "be nested within a new YouTube Space which provides unique opportunities for content creators and advertisers to connect. You possess innovative thinking and have a willingness to partner with the YouTube Space team to take advantage of this amazing co-location feature."
