Fashion Meets Technology: Apple Watch Lands On Cover Of 'Vogue' China

During Paris Fashion Week, the industry got a special sneak peek at the forthcoming Apple Watch at a pop-up shop inside of the directional concept store Colette. One of the notables in attendance was model Liu Wen, who was photographed trying on the watch for size. She also hinted on her Instagram account that it wasn't the first time she'd encountered the Apple gadget before. According to Fashionista, the Apple Watch is making its editorial debut on the cover of Vogue China's November 2014 issue, modeled by Wen herself.

The young model looks beautiful, wearing a striped Céline ensemble and her hair pulled back neatly. Shot by David Sims and styled by Karl Templer, the watch is a focal point of the cover portrait, and it appears on the inside editorial as well. The Apple Watch, with a bright orange belt, pops on her wrist, which she cleverly places across her stomach.

According to models.com, Wen hails from Beijing, China, and is one of China's brightest fashion stars, having plenty of Vogue China covers under her belt. First establishing her career with the Chinese editions of Harper's Bazaar, she broke onto the international stage in Paris on the spring 2008 runways of Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier. Since then, Wen has become a fixture on the runways of New York, Milan and Paris.

Apple's much-hyped wearable has gotten a lot of attention thus far, and including it on the cover of Vogue, fashion's most prominent publication, is a big deal. This proves that the fashion industry has embraced the accessory as one of its own.

We'll be watching to see how sales of the Apple Watch fare in China and beyond when it hits shelves in early 2015.
