'Civilization: Beyond Earth' Gameplay Walkthrough Trailer, Release Date - Opening Cinematic [VIDEO]: WATCH The Official Introduction To The 2014 Title

Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth has a release date set for October 24, 2014, but this week we got a great look at the cinematic opening that serves as the game's introduction when you start playing! While it isn't a gameplay trailer or a walkthrough, this new video is pretty epic, and probably serves as the biggest reveal of the game so far. It gives us all of the backstory of the game, which is pretty intense!

This cinematic opening shows us a number of aspects of the game, including some fun graphics that are sure to come into play during cut scenes and the like. Also, we learn about the "great mistake" mentioned in some gameplay trailers, namely the strategy walkthrough we talked about earlier this month. You can check that out right HERE!

Basically, it looks like Earth is looking at a bleak future; so select citizens have been chosen to venture into space to discover new worlds. This is shown in a dramatic scene in the cinematic opening released today, depicting a father and daughter that have to separate when the youngster is picked to leave the planet.
