WWE taped the October 17, 2014 edition of Friday Night SmackDown from Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday night, and the show begins with a promo from Mr. Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins.

Rollins says Dean Ambrose is crazy and should be in a straightjacket rather than locked inside Hell in a Cell with him at the pay-per-view of the same name. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler shows up to cut a brief promo before dropkicking Rollins as payback for the Curb Stomp on Monday Night Raw earlier in the week. This leads to a match, in which Rollins defeats Ziggler with the Curb Stomp.

AJ Lee defeats Layla with Paige and Alicia Fox on commentary. The two attack AJ after the match. The Divas Champion fights off Alicia but Paige gets the upper hand on her.

Sheamus and The Usos defeat The Miz, Goldust and Stardust when Sheamus Brogue Kicks Goldust for the pin.

Big Show cuts a promo and says he must pin Rusev at Hell in a Cell on his own, with no one's help. He calls out Mark Henry and makes his friend promise not to get involved in the match, as he did on Raw. Rusev and Lana then appear on the stage and they hurl some insults at the Americans.

Nikki Bella defeats Naomi with the Rack Attack.

Renee Young interviews Ambrose, who says Rollins cannot get ready for their match at Hell in a Cell because it's impossible to prepare for the unpredictable and the unknown. Ambrose adds even he doesn't know what he'll do during the match.

Ambrose defeats Kane by disqualification after Rollins gets involved. The heels try to beat down Ambrose and Rollins sets up for the Curb Stomp onto a chair, but Ambrose grabs the chair and smashes Kane with it while Rollins runs away as the show goes off the air.
