PaleyFest New York 2014 will hold a live stream event of the critically acclaimed HBO crime drama, The Wire. Appearing at the reunion panel will be showrunner/creator David Simon, along with fellow cast members, Idris Elba (Russell 'Stringer' Bell) and Dominic West (Jimmy McNulty), who will be sending video messages for attendees.
Hailed as one of the all-time greatest TV shows by Entertainment Weekly, the serial drama centered on the illegal drug trade set, the political system, and the news media in Baltimore. With its social themes about a city in turmoil, viewers witnessed how drug culture and poverty affected the police, the dealers, and politicians. Deemed as a visual novel, we saw how criminals became trapped in their existence and the eruption of violence through bureaucratic incompetence.
In an HBO Q&A with audience members, Simon describes the origins of the series, "The show also owes a debt to Richard Price's magnificent Dempsey books, and Clockers in particular, which first demonstrated the narrative power of a split-POV between police and their targets."
At PaleyFest, joining the panel will be producer Nina Noble, Wendell Pierce (William 'Bunk' Moreland), Sonja Sohn (Shakima 'Kima' Greggs), Michael Kenneth Williams (Omar Little), Seth Gilliam (Ellis Carver), Jim True-Frost (Roland 'Prez' Pryzbylewski), John Doman (William A. Rawls), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (D'Angelo Barksdale), and Jamie Hector (Marlo Stanfield).
The panel will be moderated by Alan Sepinwall, TV critic for Hitfix.com.

PayleyFest is also offering audiences a chance to download their free Paley App to watch their other live stream panels, including Hannibal, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Blue Bloods.
