Season 1 of FX's The Strain will soon make it ways onto DVD/Blu-Ray. From the Dark Horse Comics adaption, enter Guillermo Del Toro's visionary mind and relive the scares as Corey Stoll (Ephraim Goodweather) and Mia Maestro (Nora Martinez) uncover a vampire plague spreading throughout the streets of New York.
According to the Shock Till You Drop, the first season has already set a release date. Bonus specs include the featurettes such as In the Beginning, A Novel Approach, and Setrakian's Lair. Through these behind-the-scenes videos, we learn how much effort and detail went into the make-up, special effects, and casting.
As we reported here, we loved The Strain since the Blade 2 filmmaker directed the pilot. The end of the world begins with the arrival of a dead airplane. Inside the plane was a coffin hiding an ancient evil, known as The Master. Except for a few, all the passengers were discovered dead after having been stung by the bloodthirsty vampire.
We followed each episode as the danger came straight towards Eph's family. No matter how hard he tried to protect his loved ones, Eph would suffer a great loss along the way. How long could Eph keep fighting before he finally snapped?

As the series progressed, Kevin Durand bought in the comic relief as exterminator Vasiliy Fett. Who knew David Bradley had it in him to become an action star as the vampire hunter Abraham Setrakian?
As we reported here, the first season finale ended with a bunch of cliff-hangers. Who are the Ancients and why do they want the ex-convict, Gus (Miguel Gomez) to fight their way for him? Thankfully, we will have our answers when the second season returns after its hiatus.
The Strain will arrive on DVD and Blu-Ray on December 2. Readers, are you excited to grab the first season in your hands?
